I love when people do splotches of ricotta cheese on pizza!

Chinese take out is a special, special food. My favorite items are lo mein, orange chicken, steamed dumplings and wonton soup.
What are your favorite Chinese take out foods?
I have a feeling B would like these…
Pie day, pie day!
Thursdays have become Pie Days in B’s apartment.
This has led to several weekly occurrences, one of which being pie appearing in the oven every Thursday, and another one of which being me running up and down the hallways singing “Pie day, pie day, gotta get down on pie day!” to the tune of Rebecca Black’s Friday.
The first Pie Day was celebrated with a wonderfully mediocre pumpkin pie with a lattice crust. Last week’s Pie Day featured apple pie with a lattice crust, which created some divisions in the house. B likes his apple pie with Braeburn apples. I am a Granny Smith apple + one-cup-of-sugar-to-counter-the-tartness purist. I actually detailed this argument in a job interview last week. Not really sure if it was appropriate or not, but it got a chuckle. And I’m great about talking food. As you all know.
What should this week’s pie be, Tumblr-verse?!
hot chocolate with marshmallows and strawberry whipped cream.
Um, I didn’t even know strawberry whipped cream existed. I must have dropped the ball on this one.
teal cupcakes.
I like to call this color “Tiffany blue”.
Pumpkin Pie Problems
I was so, so ashamed.
I stood in front of the oven, watching my pie of failure bake shamefully in the oven. The crust looked burnt. The pumpkin looked too jiggly.
I had never made such a mistake.
I couldn’t even blame it on outside forces, like a shoddy oven.
Me, being silly, distracted, and far too excited to make a pumpkin pie only gave the can of pumpkin with the recipe a glance. It told me to pour the entire can into the pie shell, and so I did.
I proceeded to pour the entire can of condensed milk in as well, which is where my problem started.
It only took the mix overflowing from the pie shell to indicate to me that I had made an error.
Apparently I was supposed to only put in 2/3 of a cup of condensed milk.
That’s LESS THAN HALF OF THE CAN, PEOPLE.
I poured some out, trying to limit the amount of pumpkin that flowed.
The pie made it out of the oven just fine. It was just a little too mushy.
But the shame will last forever.
What’s the worst baking mistake you’ve ever made?
Chocolate and breakfast.
The two don’t really seem to go together. My mom never let ME eat chocolate with/for breakfast (but in college, I have been known to have pie for breakfast).
Panera, however, has an excellent chocolate chip bagel. I did feel a little guilty consuming a traditional dessert food so early in the morning, but…
Who says a grown adult can’t have whatever she wants for breakfast?!
Soooo delicious looking!
